Updated over a week ago

To connect a domain hosted with Domains.com, start by logging into your Domains.com account. Locate the domain you want to connect and navigate to its DNS settings. Add or update the required A-Records for both the root domain ("@") and the "www" for subdomain. Once done, return to Vsble, enter your domain in the connection field, and click "Connect."

Below is a step-by-step guide for Domains.com.

  • Locate the domain you want to connect

  • Click "DNS"

  • Update or add the A records for the Names "@" and "www"

  • In some cases the "www" will stand next to CNAME

it, as it might disturb the connection.

  • Return to your Vsble account

  • Go the the Domain & website" section and click on the "Custom domain" tab, scroll down to the third option.

  • Paste the domain you have edited the DNS for in the domain field without entering the "www" and without empty spaces.

  • Click "Connect"

  • Wait until you see "Connected" status, can take 5minutes to 24 hours, depending on your domain provider.

Troubleshooting Domain Connection

If your domain is not working as expected after adding the A records, check the following possible causes:

  1. Old or conflicting DNS records

  • Make sure there are no CNAME records for "www", as these can override A records and block the connection.

  • Check if there are any AAAA records for the root domain or "www". These can conflict with the new A records and should be removed.

  • Look for other A records for the root domain ("@") or "www" that point to a different IP address. These must be deleted or updated to 94.130.249.72.

  • Incorrect placeholder for the root domain

  • Different domain providers use different placeholders for the root domain. While many use "@", some require "*", ".", or an empty field.

  • Check your provider’s documentation or FAQ to ensure you are using the correct placeholder.

2. DNS propagation not yet completed

  • Changes to DNS settings take time to update globally. This process, called DNS propagation, can take anywhere from a few minutes to 24 hours, depending on your domain provider. If your domain is not connected immediately, wait a few hours and check again.

  • You can use tools like dnschecker.org to verify if your new A records have been updated.

3. Misconfiguration at your domain provider

  • If your domain is still not connecting, review your DNS settings directly in your domain provider’s dashboard.

  • If you are unsure, reset your current DNS records and reconfigure them as described in the setup guide.

  • If the issue persists, contact your domain provider’s support or reach out to the Vsble team for further assistance.
