Accessibility – Do I Need to Worry as a Creative with a Vsble Portfolio Website?

New EU regulations for website accessibility

Updated over a month ago

❓ Does the new EU accessibility rule apply to me?

In almost all cases: No.

The new EU rule on accessibility does not apply to private portfolio websites of artists, photographers, or creativeswho simply showcase their work online.

❓ Who is affected?

Accessibility requirements apply only to:

· Public institutions (e.g., government agencies, schools)

· Companies with annual revenue over €2 million that sell products or services online

· Real online shops or service platforms used commercially

❓ I have a simple portfolio site without a shop – do I need to change anything?

No.

If you're just showing your work and not selling services directly (like through a booking system), and you're not running a business making over €2 million annually, you are not affected.

❓ What if I sell prints or images?

As long as you’re not operating a full-fledged online shop, and not running a large commercial business, the rule doesn’t apply.
Creatives with small shops or print sales are generally not affected.

❓ Should I do anything anyway?

Accessibility is generally a good idea for user experience, including:

· Easy-to-read fonts

· High contrast for readability

· Alt-text for images

But this is voluntary, not legally required for Vsble users.

✅ Bottom line:

If you have a standard portfolio site on Vsble, you don’t need to worry.
You are not required to implement any specific accessibility standards under EU law.
